Student Book reviews

Book Reviews by Room 8

Horton Hears A Who by Dr Seuss

At the start, Horton finds the speck of dust and the sour kangaroo says "There's nothing living on there!"

In the middle of the story, the monkeys grab the clover with the speck of dust on top. The monkeys give the clover to a bald eagle and the bald eagle drops it into a big field of clovers.

At the end of the story, all of the animals hear the Whos.

My favourite part was when I found out that there is not just one Who in Whoville, there are lots!

Ella and Olivia - The New Girl by Yvette Poshoglian

At the start it is Olivia's first day at school. In the middle of the story, Ella loves going to school. There is a girl called Miley at their school. At the end of the story - Ella hears a voice that makes her feel sad - she hears Miley say "You're too small to play hopscotch!"

I liked when they had a slip and slide on the grass at their house.

Nicketty Nacketty Noo Noo Noo - Joy Cowley

In this book, there is an ogre called Gobbler Magoo. He lives in a swamp where the wild weeds grow. He captures a woman who makes good stew. He wanted the woman to be trapped in his house forever so she could make him stew, but she tricks him and puts glue in the stew!

I like when the ogre eats the gluey stew. He gets stuck and while he is stuck, the woman escapes because the ogre's feet are stuck to the table! I think this book is very funny because it has funny words on every page.
