Amazing Fire Fighters at Work
January 10 2013
"These brave men do an amazing job and on this day they were extremely busy. Not only did our precious library fall victim of fire but so did other properties around Christchurch on this day. We have had a series of hot dry days with temperatures in the mid 20 C and warm gusty Nor'west winds. The library that I love and work in was destroyed by fire and unbeknown to me at the time my son was caught up in a fire at his place of work in Prebbleton/Rolleston cnr Shands and Selwyn Roads, where several houses were destoyed. There were two more fires in Christchurch this day: a grass fire in Waterloo Road Hornby and a grass fire in Lunns Road." Mrs Chin

Such a shame! We were all so shocked to hear the news
Thanks Bronwen, it is very sad and it was such a beautiful library to work in .
Heart breaking :( Please let us know how we can help, there will be many people wanting to donate books/time, whatever is needed.
Awww Anne, your beautiful new display in the pohutukawa room that you were so proud of. All my love xx
Millie Jameson is so sad for you and for herself. Your library was her favourite room in the school followed by the Bosco room! We want to know what we can do to help. Lots of friends want to help. Practical things like cleaning? fundraising? Let us know! Millie sends you a big hug.

Thanks Fenella, it is incredibly sad. Millie loved getting library books and chatting. It is very raw and there will need to be some planning done.
At least I have the photos, the two children who did manage to see it were excited.
